Krista Whitlock, DVM & “Kevin”

I’m a born and bred Athens girl that has lived in Conyers now for over 20 years. I am a 1997 graduate of the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine. After practicing in McDonough and Stockbridge for the past 18 years, I decided to join the team here at Rockdale Animal Hospital in February 2018. I love internal medicine, feline medicine and especially joking around with our clients. I share my crazy life with my husband Tim, our 2 kids and lots of cats and a dog. I am a self-professed nerd and can usually be found watching superhero movies and quoting geeky television shows on any given day.

Dr. Whitlock was also awarded “Best of the Best Veterinarian of 2020” in both Newton and Rockdale County!!

Meghan Younkin, DVM & “Peaches and Pineapple”

Dr. Younkin earned her BS in animal science from The Ohio State University with a life science minor. She graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. In conjunction with her training at Ross, she completed her clinical training at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Younkin has worked in general practice and has also has spent countless hours working at veterinary emergency facilities. After spending several years in general practice and emergency medicine, she opted to enter a small animal surgical internship at MedVet Cincinnati. Although Dr. Younkin thoroughly enjoyed the focus and mentorship she received in small animal surgery, as well as collaboration with numerous other specialty departments such as oncology, cardiology, radiology, neurology, and internal medicine, she truly missed the amazing relationships that she was able to form with the clients and pets that she cared for during her time in general practice. Dr. Younkin’s versatile career path has not only allowed her to explore and focus on her passion for small animal surgery, but has also allowed her to have a true appreciation for preventive veterinary medicine, including but not limited to internal and external parasite control, annual wellness visits, dental health, proper pet nutrition, geriatric pet care, client education, and honoring the human-animal bond. Dr. Younkin has a strong background in community service and has strived to make it a constant focus in her life. She enjoys serving her communities near and far. She’s joined forces with Animal Alliance Partners, Inc. and volunteered her surgical skills with spay/neuter campaigns at the South Dakota Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in the past. She is always looking for opportunities to help with veterinary community outreach. Dr. Younkin is also Fear Free Certified.
