Here’s What You Need to Know About Periodontal Disease

Periodontal disease, a bacterial infection in the mouth, is the most common clinical condition in adult dogs and cats. In fact, by 3 years old, most dogs and cats have some evidence of dental disease. If left untreated, periodontal disease may cause problems in the mouth, and, in its later stages, to internal organs such as the liver, kidneys, and heart.
